Thoughts

Our Seniors for 2020

Carson McDaniel was born on July 31st, 2002, in Amarillo. He is the youngest of four siblings: Andrew, Rebecca, Zach and Carson. The achievements he is proudest of are football, 4-H and "actually graduating". Carson plans on attending Navarro College in the diesel tech program, then working at Western Equipment in Plainview. Asked about a time when he needed God's help, Carson said he always needed God's help when he worked sheep. What advice would he give his younger self? "Not to worry as much, just relax and remember it could be worse."

Cierra Perkins was born on March 9th, 2001, in Amarillo. When asked to tell about her family, Cierra says they are outgoing and always want the best for everyone. The achievement that she is most proud of is being awarded Student of the Month. Cierra plans to go to college and become a physical therapist. A time when she needed and felt God's presence was when she was in the hospital about four years ago. What advice would she give her younger self? "Give everything you have, even if it isn't what you want to do."

Tayleigh Johnson is the daughter of Tim and Trish Johnson. Her brother Tyler is a junior at OU and is her best friend. Tayleigh is the valedictorian of her graduating class. Among her many accomplishments, she was selected as an ABC Amarillo Classroom Champion, received several awards in One Act Play, including Honorable Mention and All Star Cast while competing at all levels including Regionals, three-year bi-district qualifier in softball, a representative and office holder in Student Council, member of National Honor Society and chapter treasurer. Tayleigh will be attending Texas Tech, obtaining a B.S. in Arts and Science and Masters in Speech-Language Pathology. Her favorite scripture is Heb. 4:12, "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow." If Tayleigh could go back in time, she would tell her younger self, "If you stay positive through the hard times, the hard times will be easier."

Tate Adams is the son of Kerry Don and Tandy Adams. His brother Pake and wife Morgan reside in Tulia. Tate has been involved in many activities during high school. He has competed four years in varsity golf, three years in varsity football and named a Second Team All-District Lineman his Junior year, was a member of the THS Hot Rodders team that placed 9th in the nation, won first place at state for two years with his welding and automotive projects, and qualified this year with his prized '76 Ford pick-up. After graduation, Tate will attend Amarillo College, studying industrial technology to obtain certification in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Tate's favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." What would Tate tell his younger self? "Study more."

Thought for the Week

Proverbs 11:10 -- When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;

when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
